AGLF
Q: Why should *I* care? A: That's an excellent question! You're not being sued, so as an artisan, why would this matter to you? Simply put, you could be next. Let's say you post something innocuous online about someone or their business. You didn't wage a systematic campaign against someone, but neither did anyone named in AGLF's charter law suit. Most of the current defendants did nothing more than alert the media to their fellow artisan's plight, write a blog post asking folks to support their cause, or perhaps just make an offhand comment mildly disparaging a potential plaintiff. This minimal level of participation was all it took to draw some of the defendants into the current lawsuit's vortex, and now they're literally paying the price of speaking up to protect themselves and others. By helping the members of the AGLF win this suit, it helps set a legal precedent that in turn can help you should you find yourself in an oversensitive business owner's cross hairs. Q: I know you can't go into detail, but generally, what are folks being sued for? A: In general terms, the 30 defendants were accused of conspiring to the act of tortious interference, or interfering with a business owner's business activities. Q: How's the case progressing? A: To date, 3 defendants have been released based on jurisdictional issues. As of this writing we're awaiting the plaintiff's clarification of her allegations.
